Sywell Aviation Museum Talks and other Events

Sywell Aviation Museum holds occasional evening talks during the winter months to raise funds for the Museum.

The People's Mosquito - Returning a Mosquito to the UK Skies - 12th February 2017, 2pm

Sywell Aviation Museum presents an illustrated talk by Alan Pickford.

Describing the history of the Mosquito, and how The People’s Mosquito registered charity have a plan to return one to UK skies, how Jerry Yagen’s Mosquito KA114 was returned to flight in New Zealand.

The talk also includes video clips of our patron, the late Capt. Eric 'Winkle' Brown, describing how he made the first carrier landing with a Mosquito, the People's Mosquito's own video, and footage of some of the flights made in New Zealand by KA114.

Talk held in support of the Sywell Aviation Museum.

The Hangar 11 Collection - rare and historic Warbird operators - 5th March 2017, 2pm

Sywell Aviation Museum presents an illustrated talk by Steven Atkin.

Steven details the Hangar 11 Collection, led by Peter Teichman as chief pilot, one of the most active Warbird operators and airshow participants in Europe, averaging over 80 public displays per season. Featured in the talk are their 'TV and film star' aircraft, P-40 Kittyhawk, Hurricane, Spitfire Mk XI, and P-51 Mustang, and what it takes to maintain and support these fantastic aviation icons.

Full Circle - A Display Pilot's Story - 19th March 2017, 2pm

Sywell Aviation Museum presents an illustrated talk by Bill Ramsey.

Bill's fascinating personal story of around 50 years' involvement with aviation: covering his operational career - an even split of bomber pilot and flying instruction – and his eventual career in the display world.

The main part of the presentation covers his time as a display pilot with the BBMF, as the RAF solo aerobatic display pilot for the Grob Tutor and of course his time with Vulcan XH558, and his time as Senior Supervisor to the Red Arrows. The talk includes a number of short films not seen in public before.
