Sywell Aviation Museum News
30th January 2007Museum members have been very busy over the past weekend. Another local Museum which is moving into new premises kindly donated a large number of superb wooden display cabinets to us.
Collected on the 27th January, two teams of Museum members have completely reorganised the interior of the Museum's RAF hall. The new cabinets will permit more of our collection to be displayed and perhaps will allow for a temporary exhibitions area.
The star of the weekend was a recently donated 1938 3-wheeled Lister Autotruck which still runs and which was gainfully employed scooting cabinets to and from the Museum and our Store.
Work continues on our wartime kitchen which has been reclad using part of the set created when Channel 5 filmed 'Heroes of the Victoria Cross' at Sywell last September (the building was later flour bombed at the airshow - fortunately the pilots' aim was rubbish!), further we hope to incorporate a 'Luftwaffe' section for 2007... watch this space!
Many thanks to Wellingborough Heritage Centre for their kind donation and to Sywell Aerodrome for providing additional storage!
